This WAR is for REAL!
October 1, 2005

To get out of a difficulty, one usually must go
through it. Our country is
now facing the most serious threat to its
existence, as we know it, that we
have faced in your lifetime and mine (which includes
WWII).

The deadly seriousness is greatly compounded by the
fact that there are very
few of us who think we can possibly lose this war
and even fewer who realize
what losing really means.

First, let's examine a few basics:

1. When did the threat to us start?

Many will say September 11, 2001. The answer as
far as the United States
is concerned is 1979, 22 years prior to September
2001, with the following
attacks on us:

* Iran Embassy Hostages, 1979;
* Beirut, Lebanon Embassy 1983;
* Beirut, Lebanon Marine Barracks 1983;
* Lockerbie, Scotland Pan-Am flight to New York
1988;
* First New York World Trade Center attack 1993;
* Dhahran, Saudi Arabia Khobar Towers Military
complex 1996;
* Nairobi, Kenya US Embassy 1998;
* Dares Salaam, Tanzania US Embassy 1998;
* Aden, Yemen USS Cole 2000;
* New York World Trade Center 2001;
* Pentagon 2001.

(Note that during the period from 1981 to 2001
there were 7,581 terrorist
attacks worldwide).

2. Why were we attacked?

Envy of our position, our success, and our
freedoms. The attacks happened
during the administrations of Presidents Carter,
Reagan, Bush 1, Clinton and
Bush 2. We cannot fault either the Republicans or
Democrats as there were no
provocations by any of the presidents or their
immediate predecessors,
Presidents Ford or Carter.

3. Who were the attackers?

In each case, the attacks on the US were carried
out by Muslims.

4. What is the Muslim population of the World? 25%.

5. Isn't the Muslim Religion peaceful?

Hopefully, but that is really not material. There
is no doubt that the
predominately Christian population of Germany was
peaceful, but under the
dictatorial leadership of Hitler (who was also
Christian), that made no difference.
You either went along with the administration or you
were eliminated. There
were 5 to 6 million Christians killed by the Nazis
for political reasons
(including 7,000 Polish priests).

Thus, almost the same number of Christians were
killed by the Nazis, as the
six million holocaust Jews who were killed by them,
and we seldom heard of
anything other than the Jewish atrocities. Although
Hitler kept the world
focused on the Jews, he had no hesitancy about
killing anyone who got in his way
of exterminating the Jews or of taking over the
world - German, Christian or
any others.

Same with the Muslim terrorists. They focus the
world on the US, but kill
all in the way -- their own people or the Spanish,
French or anyone else. The
point here is that just like the peaceful Germans
were of no protection to
anyone from the Nazis, no matter how many peaceful
Muslims there may be, they
are no protection for us from the terrorist Muslim
leaders and what they are
fanatically bent on doing -- by their own
pronouncements -- killing all of us
"infidels." I don't blame the peaceful Muslims. What
would you do if the
choice was shut up or die?

6. So who are we at war with?

There is no way we can honestly respond that it is
anyone other than the
Muslim terrorists. Trying to be politically correct
and avoid verbalizing this
conclusion can well be fatal. There is no way to
win if you don't clearly
recognize and articulate who you are fighting.

So with that background, now to the two major
questions:

1. Can we lose this war?

2. What does losing really mean?

If we are to win, we must clearly answer these two
pivotal questions.

We can definitely lose this war, and as anomalous
as it may sound, the major
reason we can lose is that so many of us simply do
not fathom the answer to
the second question - What does losing mean?

It would appear that a great many of us think that
losing the war means
hanging our heads, bringing the troops home and
going on about our business, like
post Vietnam. This is as far from the truth as one
can get.

What losing really means is:

We would no longer be the premier country in the
world. The attacks will not
subside, but rather will steadily increase.
Remember, they want us dead, not
just quiet. If they had just wanted us quiet, they
would not have produced
an increasing series of attacks against us, over
the past 18 years. The plan
was clearly, for terrorist to attack us, until we
were neutered and submissive
to them.

We would of course have no future support from other
nations, for fear of
reprisals and for the reason that they would see,
we are impotent and cannot
help them.

They will pick off the other non-Muslim nations,
one at a time. It will be
increasingly easier for them. They already hold
Spain hostage. It doesn't
matter whether it was right or wrong for Spain to
withdraw its troops from
Iraq. Spain did it because the Muslim terrorists
bombed their train and told
them to withdraw the troops. Anything else they
want Spain to do will be done.
Spain is finished.

The next will probably be France. Our one hope on
France is that they might
see the light and realize that if we don't win,
they are finished too, in
that they can't resist the Muslim terrorists without
us. However, it may
already be too late for France. France is already
20% Muslim and fading fast!

If we lose the war, our production, income, exports
and way of life will all
vanish as we know it. After losing, who would trade
or deal with us, if they
were threatened by the Muslims.

If we can't stop the Muslims, how could anyone
else?

The Muslims fully know what is riding on this war,
and therefore are
completely committed to winning, at any cost. We
better know it too and be likewise
committed to winning at any cost.

Why do I go on at such lengths about the results of
losing? Simple. Until we
recognize the costs of losing, we cannot unite and
really put 100% of our
thoughts and efforts into winning. And it is going
to take that 100% effort to
win.

So, how can we lose the war?

Again, the answer is simple. We can lose the war by
"imploding." That is,
defeating ourselves by refusing to recognize the
enemy and their purpose, and
really digging in and lending full support to the
war effort. If we are
united, there is no way that we can lose. If we
continue to be divided, there is
no way that we can win!

Let me give you a few examples of how we simply
don't comprehend the life
and death seriousness of this situation.

President Bush selects Norman Mineta as Secretary
of Transportation.
Although all of the terrorist attacks were
committed by Muslim men between 17 and 40
years of age, Secretary Mineta refuses to allow
profiling. Does that sound
like we are taking this thing seriously? This is
war! For the duration, we are
going to have to give up some of the civil rights
we have become accustomed
to. We had better be prepared to lose some of our
civil rights temporarily or
we will most certainly lose all of them
permanently.

And don't worry that it is a slippery slope. We
gave up plenty of civil
rights during WWII, and immediately restored them
after the victory and in fact
added many more since then.

Do I blame President Bush or President Clinton
before him?

No, I blame us for blithely assuming we can
maintain all of our Political
Correctness, and all of our civil rights during
this conflict and have a clean,
lawful, honorable war. None of those words apply to
war. Get them out of
your head.

Some have gone so far in their criticism of the war
and/or the
Administration that it almost seems they would
literally like to see us lose. I hasten to
add that this isn't because they are disloyal. It
is because they just don't
recognize what losing means. Nevertheless, that
conduct gives the impression
to the enemy that we are divided and weakening. It
concerns our friends,
and it does great damage to our cause.

Of more recent vintage, the uproar fueled by the
politicians and media
regarding the treatment of some prisoners of war,
perhaps exemplifies best what I
am saying. We have recently had an issue, involving
the treatment of a few
Muslim prisoners of war, by a small group of our
military police. These are
the type prisoners who just a few months ago were
throwing their own people off
buildings, cutting off their hands, cutting out
their tongues and otherwise
murdering their own people just for disagreeing with
Saddam Hussein.

And just a few years ago these same type prisoners
chemically killed 400,000
of their own people for the same reason. They are
also the same type enemy
fighters, who recently were burning Americans, and
dragging their charred
corpses through the streets of Iraq.

And still more recently, the same type enemy that
was and is providing
videos to all news sources internationally, of the
beheading of American prisoners
they held.

Compare this with some of our press and
politicians, who for several days
have thought and talked about nothing else but the
"humiliating" of some Muslim
prisoners -- not burning them, not dragging their
charred corpses through
the streets, not beheading them, but "humiliating"
them.

Can this be for real?

The politicians and pundits have even talked of
impeachment of the Secretary
of Defense. If this doesn't show the complete lack
of comprehension and
understanding of the seriousness of the enemy we
are fighting, the life and death
struggle we are in and the disastrous results of
losing this war, nothing
can.

To bring our country to a virtual political
standstill over this prisoner
issue makes us look like Nero playing his fiddle as
Rome burned -- totally
oblivious to what is going on in the real world.
Neither we, nor any other
country, can survive this internal strife. Again I
say, this does not mean that
some of our politicians or media people are
disloyal. It simply means that
they are absolutely oblivious to the magnitude, of
the situation we are in and
into which the Muslim terrorists have been pushing
us, for many years.

Remember, the Muslim terrorists stated goal is to
kill all infidels! That
translates into ALL non-Muslims -- not just in the
United States, but
throughout the world.

We are the last bastion of defense.

We have been criticized for many years as being
'arrogant.' That charge is
valid in at least one respect. We are arrogant in
that we believe that we are
so good, powerful and smart, that we can win the
hearts and minds of all
those who attack us, and that with both hands tied
behind our back, we can
defeat anything bad in the world!

We can't!

If we don't recognize this, our nation as we know it
will not survive, and
no other free country in the world will survive if
we are defeated.

And finally, name any Muslim countries throughout
the world that allow
freedom of speech, freedom of thought, freedom of
religion, freedom of the press,
equal rights for anyone -- let alone everyone,
equal status or any status for
women, or that have been productive in one single
way that contributes to
the good of the world.

This has been a long way of saying that we must be
united on this war or we
will be equated in the history books to the
self-inflicted fall of the Roman
Empire. That is, if the Muslim leaders will allow
history books to be
written or read.

If we don't win this war right now, keep a close
eye on how the Muslims
take over France in the next 5 years or less. They
will continue to increase the
Muslim population of France and continue to
encroach little by little, on
the established French traditions. The French will
be fighting among
themselves, over what should or should not be done,
which will continue to weaken them
and keep them from any united resolve. Doesn't that
sound eerily familiar?

Democracies don't have their freedoms taken away
from them by some external
military force. Instead, they give their freedoms
away, politically correct
piece by politically correct piece.

And they are giving those freedoms away to those
who have shown, worldwide,
that they abhor freedom and will not apply it to
you or even to themselves,
once they are in power.

They have universally shown that when they have
taken over, they then start
brutally killing each other over who will be the
few who control the masses.
Will we ever stop hearing from the politically
correct, about the "peaceful
Muslims"?

I close on a hopeful note, by repeating what I said
above. If we are united,
there is no way that we can lose. I hope now after
the election, the
factions in our country will begin to focus on the
critical situation we are in, and
will unite to save our country. It is your future
we are talking about! Do
whatever you can to preserve it.

Ex-Gov. Whitman Blasts "Extremist" Republicans

Former New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman is sounding off against the "far-right extremists" she says have hijacked the Republican Party, and is supporting a PAC that seeks to "take back" the GOP.
In a letter soliciting contributions for the It's My Party Too PAC, Whitman writes: "Our party was founded on the principles of limited government, individual responsibility, free markets, fiscal responsibility, a strong national defense, and, above all else, individual freedom.
"That's why it's so troublesome that a small but increasingly powerful faction has decided that they alone can decide what it means to be a Republican."
Whitman points to Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist and the "political flack" he received from fellow Republicans when he voiced support for increased government funding for embryonic stem cell research.
"In retaliation, the far-right extremists threatened to derail any future presidential aspirations Frist may hold, even though he votes solidly Republican on every other issue," Whitman states in the letter.
"We can't allow a few extremists to hijack our Party."
Whitman says the PAC, which includes John McCain and Bob Dole on its Advisory Board, is "dedicated to supporting fiscally conservative, socially progressive moderate Republican candidates at all levels of government and grassroots organizations who support them."
Whitman, who is Chair of the It's My Party Too PAC, warns that the GOP is headed down a "slippery slope" and urges fellow Republicans to contribute to the PAC so it can fight to "take back our Republican Party."

Whitman was governor of New Jersey for seven disappointing years. Let me say unequivocally that she was not in any sense of the word a "fiscally conservative, socially progressive moderate Republican"; rather, she was and is a liberal even by Democratic Party standards.
True, Whitman played lip service to Republican issues, but actions speak louder than words.
Christine Todd Whitman defeated incumbent Democrat Gov. James Florio in 1993 on a popular wave of anti-tax anger, but it almost didn't happen. Although the public was galvanized against Florio's $2.8 billion income tax hike, Whitman, like many "moderates", had no stand on a solution to the problem; her platform was essentially "I'm not Jim Florio." As a result, her campaign languished and Florio was almost assured of reelection in spite of his tax-raising policies.
It was not until Steve Forbes stepped in and gave Whitman a proposal for cutting taxes. She ran with it and narrowly won, then followed through and delivered on her promise to cut taxes. This brought Whitman national attention as a tax-cutter; talk of her being on a national ticket naturally followed.
She should have stuck with Forbes.
Instead, she made minimal cuts in spending and governed as a borrow-and-spend liberal. All the regulatory apparatus remained intact. What proved her undoing on the national level was when she applauded then President Bill Clinton's stand in favor of partial-birth abortion. This exposed Whitman as a rabid pro-choicer; her national GOP support evaporated almost instantaneously.
Her liberalism was also evident in her judicial appointments.
During her two terms six out of seven positions on the notoriously left-wing state Supreme Court opened up. This gave Whitman an unprecedented opportunity to drag the court at least to the center if not the right. As an ardent pro-choicer though, Whitman could not afford any regulations to unlimited abortions to stand, so she appointed only "true believers" on that issue. In addition, they were all lightweights - no Scalia or Thomas here; not even a Brennan or Warren - the Whitman judicial appointments were more of a Lance Ito caliber.
Although more conservative than the Governor, the Republican-controlled State Senate went along with all the appointments. This would come back to bite them when the Court in 2001 upheld a Democrat redistricting plan for the State Legislature, resulting in Democrat control of both houses since that year's election. This is the same court that in 2002 upheld the Democrats' last minute ballot switch when they replaced the scandal-tainted U. S. Senator Robert "The Torch" Torricelli with the geriatric Frank Lautenberg.
I tend to support the concept of a "big tent" Republican Party. This is a big nation and issues and philosophies differ regionally. But there comes a point when the philosophical differences are so extreme that one must consider just which tent they actually should be in.

MORE ACADEMIA

From Washington, New Jersey now to Washington State, the whacky antics of academia sound unreal, but they are. You can't make this stuff up, folks.
Mark Tapscott at Townhall.com writes today about the administration at Washington State University actually paying students to disrupt conservative presentations on campus. Although they have stopped the practice, the fact that they would even do such a thing is disturbing, and they continue with other questionable activity towards students who disagree with their left-wing views.
In the Warren County Community College case, the administration did the right thing; the result being the resignation of the offending professor. In Washington State, it is the administration which is the problem.
How to solve it?
The key word here is state - Washington State University. As I have mentioned before, with public funds (read tax money) feeding this institution, it is up to the public to demand change and accountability. Washingtonians must demand, through the State Legislature, their elected representatives, who also just happen to control appropriations, that such activities must be stopped.
Although the college administration may have stopped paying protesters, their continued pursuit of an extremist agenda and placing students in the middle of it, would demand more than their saying "we're sorry", and now everything's ok. No, what is needed is for those behind this outrage to be removed from their posts at the university.
This is a state institution, accountable to the state; let the state be accountable to its people for a change and solve this problem an of out-of-control educational establishment.

On Tuesday, November 22, the Warren County Community College Trustees accepted the resignation of Prof. John Daly. Daly had his 15 minutes of infamy when he responded to a student's announcement of a lecture featuring an Iraq War veteran speaking in support of the U. S. role there. Responding with such intolerant and threatening vitriol as "real freedom will come when soldiers in Iraq turn their guns on their superiors and fight for just causes and for people’s needs", and, “I will continue to expose your right-wing, anti-people politics until groups like yours won’t dare show their face on a college campus”, Daly brought national headlines to the Washington, NJ school.
Outrage was immediate. Conservative commentators cited this as just one more in a long series of abuses by academics in their goals of indoctrinating their students. Liberals, once again, were ominously silent.
This is far from the first time a college professor has made such a statement. Their reasoning behind this is both indoctrination and to test the waters. Testing the waters involves seeing how far they can go in advancing their extreme views without opposition.
Daly had made a gross political miscalculation.
New Jersey is a "blue state", having supported Democrats in most statewide elections. Unfortunately for libs like Daly, Warren is a county-operated institution. Mountainous, agricultural Warren County is not blue, but a deep shade of red, President Bush having won the county by a 24-point margin. All elected County officials are Republicans, and Warren is represented in Congress by Rep. E. Scott Garrett, a Club For Growth conservative. The College Trustees are appointed by the County Board of Chosen Freeholders (County Commissioners). The students, alumni and parents come from this region.
Not the type of area that would have much patience for kooks like Daly.
This past Tuesday, the Trustees held a special emergency meeting on the topic, at which time Daly notified them of his immediate resignation, which was accepted. The college sent out a press release informing the public of their action; it further stated that staff would receive "tolerance training" as a result, and closed with a message of support for our troops and their mission from the College President.
Incidents like this occur all too regularly, unfortunately all too often the offending instructors remain in their post. Often the school administration backs the professors. Many colleges are funded by states or counties, but even in conservative states professors such as John Daly or Ward Churchill are allowed to flourish. Where the states or counties control the pursestrings, it is important sometimes for state or county government to step in to protect the student; to ensure that both taxpayer and tuition money goes towards useful education, not left-wing indoctrination.
At least the educational environment in Warren County, NJ has become more student-friendly.

A POPISH PLOT

The nomination of Judge Samuel Alito, Jr. will bring the majority on the United States Supreme Court firmly within the purview of Rome. This will place an entire branch of the U. S. Government under the absolute control of the former Hitler Youth member, the Rev. Josef Ratzinger, alias Pope Benedikt XVI.
This should send a chill of alarm down the spine of every American.
Alito was nominated by President George W. Bush, who's own brother, Florida Governor Jeb Bush is openly Catholic! George W. Bush is a self-proclaimed Methodist, but many have said that large parts of his agenda are highly compatible with that of orthodox Roman Catholicism. He himself may be a closet Catholic.
This brazen attempt by the President and his Vatican overlords was exposed for your protection by the brave and unbiased members of the Mainstream Media.

This morning President Bush announced his nominee for the Supreme Court who would be voted on instead of the ill-fated Harriet Miers as a replacement for the retiring Sandra Day O'Connor.
Judge Samuel A. Alito, Jr., of the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, sounds like the one who should have been nominated in the first place. A native of Trenton, NJ, like Justice Antonin "Nino" Scalia, Alito has been called "Scalito", a name that I would wear like a badge! Alito's nomination has gotten all the right reviews, with whining and filibuster threats coming from the Democrats. Let me tell you something, if the nomination didn't elicit such reaction from the dims, then it's time to worry! And their bawling about the prospect of 5 Catholics on the Court shows exactly where their bigoted heads are at.
If "Dingy Harry" and his cronies threaten a filibuster, let them bring it on. Then let Bill Frist grow a pair and NUKE 'EM!

NAGIN GIVES BUSH A PASS

I just turned on my TV and what to my wondering eye should appear but New Orleans Mayor C. Ray Nagin on NBC's Meet The Press. When asked by host Tim Russert about cooperation and support from the State and Federal governments, I expected a Bush bash. Instead, while Nagin was highly critical of the Federal response, he blamed it on "low level advisors", who gave the President advice which may have grossly understated the severity of the problem. In his personal dealings with Bush, Nagin praised the President, saying, "Whatever I asked the President for, he made it happen".
The Mayor reserved the bulk of his rage for Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco (D), who he accused of showing up in New Orleans with full press entourage, performing a dog & pony show, then leaving. Nagin had supported Republican Piyush "Bobby" Jindal over Blanco in the 2003 gubernatorial runoff election.

SOME THOUGHTS ON KATRINA

I guess it's time I weigh in on Hurricane Katrina and the tragic devastation on the Gulf Coast. The left has been working overtime to lay this solely at President Bush's door but charity begins at home and the City of New Orleans dropped the ball. Sure, they had a great plan, but they made no effort to implement it. And not just in Katrina but Hurricane Ivan, too.
By now we all know about the hundreds of now useless school buses that could have been used to evacuate city residents who had no cars.
The Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) has come under criticism for a sluggish response; this appears to have bedeviled that agency since at least the Clinton Administration.
Let's talk about the levees. What about the levees? The libs keep whining that President Bush cut the funding and that's why it broke, but apparently the part that broke through was already modified and improved! (Hat tip to That Gay Conservative)
I could go on and on, but much has been said by others. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the babble from the German Minister of the Environment, Jürgen Trittin. Rather than speak to that on myself, read this article by Claus Christian Malzahn, one outraged German.

Actually, none of them are true Sheehan quotes. They are excerpts from several of my howie "vignettes", simply copied & pasted. The scary thing is, if she hasn't said any of these quotes, she easily could, and probably will. You can't make this stuff up.
And sadly, she daily tramples the memory of her heroic martyred son, Casey.

ON ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION

Illegal immigration has once again made the news. Rush has repeatedly warned Republicans to get ahead of this issue or the Democrats might attempt to grab it for themselves. In the past week Govs. Bill Richardson of New Mexico and Janet Napolitano of Arizona, both Dems, have come out with a "get tough" policy on the issue and the media is fawning all over them; were they Republicans they would both be called racists and worse.
Let's have a look at just who's racist.
Remember earlier this year Mexican President Vicente Fox, an advocate of continued "migration" of his citizens through an open U.S. border, stated that Mexicans "are doing jobs that not even blacks want to do there in the United States". He was rightly criticized for this comment.
Baldilocks in May posted a thread which explores the issue of Mexican racism. She wrote, "By the way, President Fox wants his country’s 'inferiors,' that is, those Mexicans of more Indian heritage, to migrate to this country. Why do you think his government encourages illegal emigration? Better than what many other leaders have done with their “inferiors,” don’t you think?"
So rather than deal with their Indian citizens as equal members of their society, the Mexican government would rather they just left. I can't really blame the illegals for wanting out; if I were in their shoes I would want to get out of Dodge myself. Unfortunately, Mexico's racial and economic problems should not become Americans' problems too.
And apparently they don't much care for their black population either; read this.
Mexico is not a U.S. ally; it is not a trading partner. Mexico's actions over the years have earned it runner up status as a rogue nation! And if illegal immigration alone isn't reason enough for troops on the border, perhaps the utter lawlessness of places like Nuevo Laredo is. Or Mexican military incursions onto American soil. I mean their troops in the U.S. Sometimes they shoot. Can you say "act of war"? Just in case I didn't get my point across, their troops came into our country.
These are not the actions of a good neighbor. Once is a mistake, or overzealous troops; this frequently and it's policy.
They'd be singing a different tune out the other side of their mouth in Mexico City if Americans suddenly stopped vacationing in Can Cun, Cozumel, Cabo, Acapulco, or anywhere else. Or if we could shut off the cash pipeline from the Mexican "diaspora". It'd be nice if all those U.S. dollars dried up. Won't happen though.

Relax. There is nothing wrong with your computer! Nor has this site been hacked. It's simply time to put this baby to bed. It's been a fun trip, but after 10,000 hits it's time to move on to other things.
That's right. In case anyone is still wondering, this is satire! (You nailed it, Hawkeye!) I am not a 21 year-old, dope-smoking, spellingly challenged, shallow, left-wing looney, Ivy League legacy brat. No, I'm a 45-year old father of two great daughters who has been a conservative since high school - before I could even vote! I'm a product of the Catholic School System where I received a conservative education. Thank God I wasn't subjected to public school. (Josh Fahrni, your parents are so right to home-school you!) I never tried weed, even non-inhaling. Oh, and yes I can spell!
Why start this blog? Well, back in 2004, I was surfing the net, reading various blogs. Running across some lefty blog, DU I think it was, I decided to have a little fun. I came up with this blithering blather about passive survival and how we need to talk to Usama binLaden and building a mosque at Ground Zero. I wanted to see what reaction I got from the lefties. Only problem is, you have to register at DU and many other lefty sites. I didn't want to do that because I knew someone that did it and kept getting spammed. What to do? So finally I decided to post it on a conservative blog, ScrappleFace, and let everyone beat up the lib. I chose the name, «Howie», because it just sounded like a whiny, sanctimonious liberal weenie. (Apologies to any Howards or Howells out there!)
Howie soon became a created character with a personality. Howie is arrogant, whiny, a know-it-all; he's shallow. Howie's «knowledge» is all by rote. It's all surficial; he has his lefty views but he really hasn't a clue why. Howie doesn't believe, he «feels». When challenged on his views he doesn't defend them, he falls back on, «Presemt a neocon wiht the facts abd the tuth and recieve an ad-nominem pesonal attack in returm». His spelling is right out of public school. Oh, and Howie uses these irritating «European» quotation marks.
After the 2004 election, I decided that Howie needs a blog of his own. I looked at Typepad, but they charge; Howie was not that important to become another bill for me to pay. Finally, this past spring, I discovered Blogger and, after being urged by dean04prez to"totaly start a blog of you're own", I started this blog.
Building upon Howie's arrogance, I started comment-spamming blogs on both the right and the left. You know, "Nice blog..." This got me traffic. I got conservatives who were angry at this lib brat spamming their site; I got libs, many of whom were totally supportive of Howie's views, no matter how extreme. And I deliberately pushed the envelope on that, too. Some of the libs seemed like sincere people who just had the wrong views; nonetheless they were sincere. Others were the type where you just want to take a shower after visiting their site. I found a veritable ocean of great conservative blogs. Camojack, Josh, Beerme, many others. (See sideboard.) Sorry about the stupid comments, guys.
The puppet face. About that. There's a reason. That puppet was called Dorshock and it was on The Sandy Becker Show, a New York kids' show from the 50s and 60s that I used to watch. Dorshock's entire vocabulary was, "blah, blah, blah, blah." Suits Howie doesn't it.
So, time to put Howie away. I haven't decided whether to stay on as a conservative blog, or to shut down, but it's been fun, especially reading the great responses to Howie everyone has posted!

LONDON CRAWLING

The July 7 attacks on the London transportation infrastructure should serve as a wake-up call to all people who still cling to the idea of a so-called «war on terror». These events in London are real evidence about O. bin Laden: We must talk to this man. I feel America and her vassals need to sit down like adults, in some neutral spot like Geneva, meet with O. bin Laden or his representatives, and work things out. War is not the answer. War is never the answer. Communication and compromise are. Once everything is resolved, America can call her troops home, and the insurgents can return to their jobs and families. Swords will be beaten into ploughshares; the lamb will lie down with the lion. More butter. Less guns. There is precedent for this. The American president R.M.Nixon, a right-wing icon, initiated dialogue with Chinese leader Mao Zedong in order to avoid war. The People's Republic of China is now one of America's biggest trading partners; loss of the stream of manurfactured goods from China would have dire consequemces for America's consumer, and by currency the American economy. Too, Nixon also had a policy of détente with President L.I.Brezhnev of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics to avoid war. This was due to the theory of Natural Assured Destruction, in which it was felt that in a war, both America and her adversaries would be utterly destroyed. While this theory may apply today, G.W.Bush pays no heed and rushes nearly unilaterally to war; his «coalition» consisting of minimal troops from a handful of countries. Enough troops, however, to make those countries targets for retaliatoin. This is where the United Kingdom now finds herself; Pime Minister T. bLiar now finds himself at a crossroads. He must make a hard decision. Had Bush been pesident during Nixon's time, I feel he would have rushed to nuclear war with both the USSR and China. Like bLiar, Bush now must make a decision: Continue with the unwinnable «war on terror» and lead America to more body bags, with eventual combat on American soil; or the Peace Table, with America and her adversaries talking, not fighting.

Assosiate Justice Sandra Day O Connor has announced her retiremement from the Supreme Cour6t. O Connor, 75, was one of the «Gang of Four», who delivered the minority opinion that was one vote short of torpedoing the government's right to condemn private property for the public good. Now, G.W.Bush will make a nomination for the court. If he is smart (Yeah right), he will realise that he simply cannot get his stain-glass right-wing lacky's approved by the Senate. Consequenty, he should spare America the greif of a long, protracted comfirmation process, and simply nominate someone who will be acceptable to the Senate. Sen. McCain is a man who is important to keep in the loop for this process. So are Sens. Kennedy, Schumer, Climton and Boxer. If the 7 moderate Republicans work with the Democrats, America can have one more progressive Supreme Court Justice!

ARMY GIRL

I am using this post to point out a pair of blogs, aparrently by the same person, Seargeant Kami «Risawn» Erickson. She is in the Army, and is clearly one of the many young Americans duped into joining by some enticment or another. One blog is called «Incoherant Ramblings», and the other is called «Foxholes and Dogtags». The first is more or less of a random blog about this adn that, wile the other is about her exploits in the army occupying Kossovo. She is indicative of the frightning array of soldiers recruted scince G.W.Bush took power. For America's military to progress out of the dark ages, we need new leadership in the Department of Defense; former Assistant Secertary of the Army Sara Lister would be a great replacement for «Rummy the Dummy».

SUPREME COURT HITS THE RIGHT NOTE

The Supreme Court yesterday, in it's lamdmark Kelo v New London Decision, struck a blow for progressive change. The Court ruled that goverment has the right to take private property by eminent domain, even if it is to be used by a private developer. This is a sound decision. Many of the property owners subject to a city's condenmation are longtime owners with substandard dilapidated properties. The fact is, what yuo see is what you get. These owners are not going to inprove their property, there by depriving the city or county of much needed tax revenue. This in turn drives up the taxes of other residents. This in it self should have conservative's flocking to support this landmark decision. Those justices opposed to this decicion were the «usual suspects»: Thomas, Scalia, Renquist and O Connor. Their minority opinions reflect a deep-seated malevolence towards improving our cities, likely based in racism.

SUPREME COURT STRIKES DOWN MEDICAL MARIJUANA LAWS

The Supreme court recently struck down the Medical Marijuana laws in California and other states. I feel this was a bad thing because now the seriously ill will be busted for possession. Sunday's French referendum on the European Union constititution was an unmitigated dusaster. France, long a bastion of progress on the Continent, allowed her voters to fall for the lies foisted upon them by forces of reaction. France, a founding member of the «EU», now has the embarassment of defeat of her own idea, by her own voters. This could result in the fall of the Chirac government, and the rise of the right-wing Bush-clone, N. Sarkozy.
The appointment of D. deVillepin as Premier, while a promising move, may not be enough to stop Sarkozy. Now, the formerly progressive Netherlands have also resoundingly defeated the European constitution. These two defeats could cause the dissolution of the European Union into its 25 constituent republics, and endanger the concept of «multi-polarity», or more than just one superpower. This unfortunately can only embolden Bush's imperialistic aims.

That cowboy G.W.Bush just did another diplomatic faux pas. This time in the breakaway Latvian and Georgian republics. It is his schoolyard bully personality that has most of the world hating America. While in these places, Shrub had the audacity to criticise Russia! He actually announced to the world that it was wrong for Russia to «dominate» Eastern Europe. Like it was OK for America to dominate Western Europe? I somehow remember the Red Army liberated Eastern Europe from the Nazi thugs. Is Shrub saying he would have sided with A. Hitler?This stunt was done only to embarass President V.V.Putin. Proper diplomacy would have Bush go through the chain of command of diplomatic channels. The code word of a diplomat is restraint. Some consevative bloggers have posited that «Dean04prez» and myself are one in the same, actually it appears that Shivers blogs as both «Dean04prez» and «Iraqwarnotright». Both websites, while claiming to be progressive or at least satire, are actually nothing more than very anti-progressive sexist childish pap.

I never posted such «bathroom humour» on Scrapple Face; I have always stayed issue-oriented so as to educate. While on my own blog I have occaisionally been somewhat flirtatious, that has been when I was high. Matt grow up.

Many conservatives have offered their opinion that I am a «poseur», «satire», a «faux lib», or a «Liberal Larry spinoff». Nothing could be further from the truth. I am a true progressive thinking individual, or a «liberal» if you will. I began posting vignettes on Scrapple Face last September to try and pursuade the conservatives there to change their vote and support Sen. Kerry. I continued posting after the theft of the 2004 election to educate the stain glass right wingers about the progressive movement. This year I found the «Blame Bush» site, and at first thought it was a progressive site. I soon found that it was satire; I then began posting there for the same reason that I was posting @ Scrapple Face - to educate. In the meantime I was banned from Scrapple Face. While reading Blame Bush one day, I found that someone had posted «is this our Howie?», with a link to Dean04prez's site. I found that too was satire.I am not Deen. However, Dean recommended I start my own blog, which I did, for the purpose of education.

After 29 Years, Last Syrian Troops Pull Out of Lebanon

After 29 years, the last Syrian peacekeeping troops left Lebanon. Lebanese of all walks of life thanked the troops for their sacrifice. The troops were deployed into Lebanon in 1976 to end the bloody Lebanese Civil War. This pullout was demanded by the Bush administration. Wow. The hypocrisy. Why is it OK for America to demand Syria pull out her peacekeeping forces from Lebanon when America wo'nt pullout her occuppation forces from Iraq? What hypocrisy. Could it be Shrub secretly wants to get his own troops into Lebanon? Or Israeli troops?

EARTH DAY. FOR WHAT?

Earth Day. We should be celebrating the earth and what does Shrub do? He wants to drill for oil in the pristine Arctic wilderness of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. (ANWAR) This is only to line the pockets of corporate oil barons. He will probably sell the oil to Japan anyway because they killed too many whales so, do'nt look for lower prices at the pump. Not to mention the enviornmental catastrophe when a spill takes place. If we really want to celebate the earth we should conserve energy. Keep your heat no higher than 68°F. Use a sweater if you have to. Your AC should be no lower than 70°F, or better still, open a window. Walk, bike, or use public mass transportation. If you must drive, drive 55 or lower. And trade your gas guzzling SUV or Hummer for a smaller, more economical car.

A VISION FOR THE FUTURE

What Bush should do (He won't) is the immediate withdrawal of all troops from Afghanistan and Iraq, followed by a general withdrawal from all postings overseas. These withdrawals should be done not by redeploying troops at home, but by the gradual dissolution of our military forces. If America renounces fascism and imperialism, she will not need military forces, because she will not be attacked. Canada and Mexico are not about to attack America, and no other country is close enough to be a danger. The western hemisphere could then become a military free zone. Some weapons could be used in law enforcement. The rest would be scrapped and recycled to domestic products; a modern day equivalent to beating swords into plowshares. The dollars now spent on the military industrial complex could then be spent on jobs, women's issues, healthcare, education, and the environment. Eventually, as we relegate capitalism and greed to the past, and everyone is provided for, even law enforcement can be phased out.

It is time to pull out of Iraq. With continued car bomings it is obvious that this ca'nt be won. Iraq is Bush's Viet Nam. Sure there were elections. Sure theres a so called Prime Minister Allawwi. But they have'nt formed a government yet. Why?

This Iraqi leadership is going to survive as long as the unilateral American forces are there. Once the American's leave, there will be civil war and Iraq wiill fall to the so-called «Insurgents». The Sunni Triangle will be the first to go, followed by the Shiite south, which will bring Iran into the figting. Last to fall will be the Kurdish regons, and that conflict will undoubtedly involve Turkey. Like Nixon's war destableized Southeast Asia, Bush's war is destablizing the Middle East. A negotiated end to this war is the only way out. Support our troops. Bring them home. NOW.

Vatican SMOKE

A Vatican traditiion is the use of smoke to signal the election or not of a new pope. Black smoke for no pope. White smoke for new pope. So I tried an experiment to see if I could make smoke of different colours too. Like my own Vatican in my dorm room. In Edwards hall. So I tried some experiment to see if i could make smoke of defferent colors too. So I rolled a doob this morning and rolled lots of paper in it because they say when they burn the paper ballats in Rome it makes white smoke. So I lit it and the smoke was white! Just like the Vatcan. But it was a real bad smoke. Wrecked the weed. So I rolled a regular doob and smoked it up. Then I tried to make blabk smoke but I did'nt know what to use to ake the smoke black. So first i tried black paper but that made white smok too. Anmd match heads did'nt work either be cause they just made the doob burn up real violently and I burnt my hand and wasted the weed. Then I tried pencil shavings and that did'nt work either and it was real harsh. So then I tried an other one pencil which was one of those plasticy pencils that are painted yellow to look like a pencil and I put the shavings in a blunt instead of a joint because I was out of papers because I rolled them in the first doob be cause I di'nt have any ballots to make the white smoke. This made lots of black smoke but it smell real bad in her3e now and it was even worse smoking it. Now the RA is knocking at the door and asking what's going on in here and is everything all ihgt. I hav to go now.

POPE BENEDICT XVI

The conclave of cardinals today elected the Rev. Joseph Ratzinger as the next pope. Ratzinger, who took the name Benedict XVI, will be inaugurated Sunday. Although long considered a conservative, this is not necessarily a bad thing for progressives. President R.M.Nixon wanted a conservative on the Supteme Court, and acordingly appointed Harry Blackmun, a conservative in anybody's book. Blackmun, however, grew in office and came to embrace progressive change. Ratzinger also could grow in office. Also, he is from Germany, a very progressive country. This could actually be the beginning of a very progressive period in the church.

BLACK SMOKE OVER THE VATICAN

Soufflé von Helsing posited a very interesting series of questions on the "HacKKKers" thread, and, rather than answer it on the thread, I felt it was inportant enough to post as a thread in itself so my readers may discuss and offer their own vignettes upon it. Thank you Mijnheer von Helsing.

1. You say war is never the answer, and we need to open dialogues with those who want to do us grave bodily harm. So does this mean the Muslims should have simply converted to Christianity when the marauding hordes of Catholic do-gooders invaded their land during the Crusades? Or does the fact that they were neoKKKon Chri$tians justify their fighting back with any means necessary?
A. Religion is often itself the cause of war; in the crusades we are faced with a "chicken and the egg" senario. The Middle East was once predominantly Xtian, and was a part of the Byzantine Empire. Unfortunately the mideasterners were a different type of Xtian than the emperor, and suffered severe persecution. When Islam arose in the Arabian Penisula, the Xtian Arabs looked upon the Muslims as liberators not conquerors. Over time, Islam took hold. Bottom line, Islam held the hearts and minds of the people of the ME, and the Vatican should have stayed out of it.
2. Also in the same vein, and in light of the fact that the evil neoKKKons of AmeriKKKa are in bed with the Israeli Zionists in oppressing the innocent Palestinians in their quest for a home of their own, was it wrong for America to fight the Nazis during WW2 and free the Jews from Auschwitz? Doesn't this mean the progressive Europeans at that time were doing the right thing after all?
A. As she did not enter Iraq to promote "democracy", America did not enter the Great Patriotic War (WWII) to free the Jews. She entered because business interests wanted her to. While freeing the Jews was arguably a good thing to do, remember America did'nt even (purportedly) know about Auschwitz until the time of liberation. Germany under the Nazis had many progressive ideals, and would have gone down in history as a beacon of progressivism had her leadership not attempted to exterminate the Jews and had they not gone on their military adventures. Remember Germany and the USSR were once allies, and together could have been a progressive vanguard had Germany not turned on her ally.
3. Third question about war (since my own bloodthirsty Texas past has it so ingrained into my head), shouldn't the Palestinians lay down their arms and stop resisting the oppressing Israelis in order to become more enlightened and progressive, or does the fact that they are Muslims fighting against a religious/political organization that normally has close ties with Christianity justify war in this case?
A. It is the Israelies who must lay down their arms. A. Sharon must talk to M. Abbas, hat in hand, and right the wrongs committed against the Palestinian people by Isreal.
4. My last question. Is it OK to key any car I see with a Chimpy McHitler bumper sticker? Or should I just try to peacefully talk some sense into them? Use your judgement here. If the owner is present, by all means try to peacefully talk sense into them. If no owner is in sight, don't waste your time looking for them. Just key the car.Is it also OK for me to throw things at neocon speakers who invade our progressive campuses, or should I try to have a civil, reasoned dialogue with them in the hopes that they will see our point of view? These are hardened right-whiners, and cannot be reasoned with. They must be stopped. Pies are the recommended objects to throw.

Recently 2 vignettes were deleted from a thread here. Namley the «Still banned from Scrapple Face» thread. I did not delete them. Probably a conservative hacKKKer. I did'nt delete these vignettes and I even invited the writer of the vignettes to repost em. The only vignette I ever deleted was one written by me because I thought CamoJack was mad that I wrote it. Maybe it was a hacKKKer and not Scott Ott who banned me from Scrappleface. When progressive change comes [and it is coming!] hacKKKers will be dealt with.

Pope John XX

The time has come for another woman pope. That's right another.On the death of Pope Victor III 9/16/1087 the conclave unanimusly electd one John Anglicus, a Englishman who had studied in Mayence, Germany. He was Pope John XX. But John was actually Joanna. A woman! As a girl she enrolled in seminary discuised as a man and was ordained a priest. She was so talented in the ministry that she rose thru the church hierarchy all the way up to the Vatican. All the time disguised as a man! Joanna served as pope for 2 yrs 7 months, and 4 days. At that time, while getting on her horse, she gave birth. She was then seized, beaten, and tied to the horse and dragged through the streets of Rome, after wich she was stoned to death and the baby smothered. Both corpses were then thrown into the Tiber River and caried out to sea.The name of Pope John XX was stricken from the records of popes and locked away in a secret Vatican archive. To this day if you look at a list of all popes you will see Popes John I thru John XIX and John XXI thru John XXIII, but there is no Pope John XX. It is time the cardinals make this right by electing another woman as pope.

I have my own blog now!!!!!!!!!!! This is my blog. My name is howie and I am very progressive. I support progressive change and passive survival. More abot that later. I am a junior at Princeton University with a 3.8 GPA. My major is education and my minor is history. Dean04prez said I should have my own blog and so here it is.
